HIST 1302 - Sprehe: Start Your Research

Off campus access

To access any electronic resources from the Lee College collection off campus, you will use your Blackboard login and password to log in.

Find books and E-books

Use the Lee College Library catalog to find books and e-books.

  • Books normally take a more in-depth approach to a subject than articles, so your search terms should also be broader.
  • Use the index and/or table of contents to find your topic -- you don't always have to read the whole book!
  • Note quotations and ideas you want to use in your paper as you go along -- including page numbers!  You'll need this for your internal citations.

Go to the Library Catalog or use the search box below to find books and e-books:

OneSearch

OneSearch allows you to search most of the library's resources simultaneously.  Because you are looking through a huge number of resources all at one time (literally millions of articles!), your search will probably have to be very specific in order to find usable articles.

Access OneSearch either:

This is where your background research comes in.  Unless your topic is very specific, you will most likely need to search using the mutiple terms, such as:

[Name of event] + [Social Aspect of the event] --> Vietnam War and Protest*

[Topic] + [Sub-topic] --> World War, 1939-1945 and Cryptography or Code*

Alternatively, you can use the limiters on the OneSearch search page to narrow your search.  Example:

[Your Topic] + [use E-books as a limiter] --> Emmett Till + [now go down the search page until you find the fields to enter dates, then check the box by "ebooks"]
