Requesting Library Instruction or LibGuide Creation
- Library Instruction Request Form Effective Library Instruction can vastly improve the quality of your student's citations. It can also help the student's incorporate and explain their citations in the paper in places that make sense. The students will also learn the importance of assessing the quality of the resources they find on the Internet. Normally library instruction classes occupy the entire class period, but if you can't afford to dedicate an entire class for library instruction, you can ask the Librarian to come into your class for only a 10 to 15 minute session that only covers the immediate need of your students. You could even schedule several of these briefer sessions throughout the semester as the students need them.
- LibGuide Request Form In addition, your library liaison can also create a customized LibGuide for your courses. A LibGuide is an online collection of resources providing research help and information on a specific topic or course.
- Online Tutorial Request Form If you can't sacrifice an entire class session for library instruction you can also request the library to create a brief 5 to 10 minute online tutorial for your students, which they can complete outside of class. We can also embed this online tutorial into your BlackBoard class for easy grading and documentation. For this to be as effective as possible, we recommend that you give this tutorial a grade.
